Microsoft has started the rollout of another Windows 11 update, and just as expected, the company will continue to service it for 24 months.

In other words, devices where Windows 11 2022 Update is installed will be provided with further patches and improvements until October 2024.

But as Neowin notes, these EOL dates are only aimed at Windows 11 Home, Pro, Pro Education, Pro for Workstations, and SE versions. On the other hand, the enterprise and education versions of the operating system will continue to be serviced until October 2025.

Interestingly, rumor has it that Microsoft is already working on the next-generation version of Windows. Possibly called Windows 11, this surprising release could take place in 2023 or 2024, so in theory, Microsoft should already have an EOL date for Windows 11 in mind as well.

At this point, however, the company hasn’t shared such information, so Windows 11 comes without an end of support date.

Microsoft says Windows 11 currently has more than a billion users.

“Windows 11 was designed to bring people together, to help people play and have fun, to empower productivity and inspire creativity. Serving more than a billion people, Windows is the platform for the world’s innovation,” Panos Panay said recently.

“For consumers, Windows 11 will make your everyday easier. For businesses, Windows 11 is the operating system for hybrid work and the most secure version of Windows yet. For developers and creators, Windows 11 is the open platform creating even greater economic opportunity for your creations. We will continue to invest in delivering Windows experiences that enrich people’s lives as we aspire to meet your evolving needs.”

Windows 11 2022 Update is rolling out in stages, and certain features, such as the ones going live on the Microsoft Store, will become available in October.
