Microsoft launched the Surface Duo earlier this month, but as it typically happens with a new-generation device, the early buyers have already come across various issues that need to be resolved as soon as possible.

Fortunately, these problems aren’t related to hardware and can be resolved with software updates, and according to a new report, the very first pack of improvements is projected to go live in October.

More specifically, Microsoft watcher Zac Bowden says the software giant will roll out an OS updated for the Surface Duo, and the focus will obviously be on fixing the overall performance with the device. Security patches will also be included, as per the typical approach on Android, so the security patch level on the Surface Duo will be October 2020.

The good news is that Microsoft is very committed to keeping the Surface Duo fully up-to-date, so the company promises to ship updates for the device on a monthly basis.

This means that the dual-screen Android model will always be running the latest security patches, which can only be good news for buyers.

United States-exclusive device

Microsoft is currently selling the Surface Duo exclusively in the United States, and people familiar with the matter said that the company could launch on international markets in early 2021.

However, the software giant is still waiting for feedback on the market reception in the States and only then make a decision on the international launch for the Surface Duo.

For the time being, however, the availability of the Duo remains incredibly limited, and it’s pretty clear Microsoft doesn’t expect huge sales for the device. The good news is that a second-generation model is already in the works, and this one could go live in markets across the world from the very beginning.
