Testing continues in the latest 19H1 preview build

Windows Timeline is one of the key features right now in Windows 10, or at least that’s what Microsoft wants us to believe given there are lots of users not running it these days, but the company is very keen on improving it in the coming OS feature updates anyway.

One way to make Timeline more helpful is to actually bring it to the browser, which means that the feature would technically display all your history right on the web.

The most recent Windows 10 preview build comes with a dedicated button in Timeline that allows users to see their past activities within a browser. However, the website that’s supposed to provide access to this data does not work right now, which is most likely a sign that this functionality is still an experiment and Microsoft needs more time before making it available to users.

Coming to insiders soon

Most likely, Windows Timeline in the browser would be released to insiders in the coming preview builds, while all users would get access to it with the launch of the 19H1 update for Windows 10 in the spring of 2019.

Windows Timeline creates snapshots of your activities, including documents you were working on and websites you visited, and saves them for later access. Timeline then allows you to restore complete sets of activities on a Windows 10 device within 30 days after they are created.

Microsoft, however, has remained tight-lipped on this new feature for Timeline, though by the looks of things, the internal testing advances quite fast.

Windows 10 19H1 is projected to be finalized in March and released to all users in April. Insiders will be the first ones to try out this feature in order to provide feedback and help refine it before the public rollout, but an ETA as to when an early look at it would be offered isn’t yet available.
