Still no official announcement from Microsoft though

Microsoft has already picked the RTM build of the very next Windows 11 update, but so far, the company hasn’t provided any specifics as to when it could go live for production devices.

It’s a well-known thing that Windows 11 version 22H2 should go live in the second half of the year, but on the other hand, no further specifics were available.

But according to a report from The Verge, Microsoft actually plans to begin the rollout of the next Windows 11 version in late September. As a result, the company would detail every change in the operating system at Microsoft Ignite, the big Microsoft event that will take place between October 12 and 14.

Needless to say, it’s important to keep in mind that Microsoft will use a phased rollout for Windows 11 version 22H2.

This means not everybody will receive the next major version of Windows 11 on day one, as the company just wants to make sure everything is running properly for everybody. In other words, the company is shipping Windows 11 version 22H2 to devices out there gradually, therefore keeping an eye on the rollout and whenever it discovers a bug hitting a certain configuration, it can enforce an upgrade block to limit the damage the bug makes.

So far, however, Microsoft hasn’t announced a release date for Windows 11 version 22H2, but the September timing makes perfect sense, especially given the Ignite conference that takes place a month later.

This year’s Microsoft Ignite with be the software giant’s first in-person event since the beginning of the pandemic, though the company will also offer digital events to showcase certain products, including most likely Windows 11 version 22H2.

As usual, given an official confirmation does not exist just yet, you’d better take this timing information with a healthy pinch of salt for now.
