Microsoft’s commitment to Android and iPhone is no news, as the company has given up on Windows Phone already, so now it’s working to make all of its apps and services available cross-platform.

Part of this plan appears to be a new mobile Photos app that is currently under development and which would essentially enable quick image transfers from iPhone and Android devices to computers running Windows 10. The feature is expected to work for phones and PCs connected to the same Wi-Fi, according to Italian blog Aggionarmenti Lumia.

At the same time, Microsoft is also reported to be working on an overhaul of the Photos app on Windows 10, including adding some new features like premium content available to Office 365 subscribers. This could include themes, music, and special effects that can be applied to photos and videos.

Users without a subscription could be provided with story enhancements, as well as a favorites section that would work very similarly to the one on Windows 10 Mobile and provide a quick favorite icon that would group pictures in a separate category for quick access.

New stickers and effects will also be added, including elements like vintage cars, hats, eyeglasses, and others, all of which will be fully customizable with settings for colors, transparency, size, and others.

All improvements to the Photos app on Windows 10 are currently under development and should become available to participants in the Windows Insider program in the coming builds. Everyone else should get them all with the release of the Windows 10 Redstone 4 update in the spring of 2018.

Most likely, the mobile apps will also be available as a private beta at first before Microsoft collects feedback and improves them with suggested features, with a public release also expected to happen next year.
