Company says feedback older than 15 months will be purged

Microsoft has announced a new cleaning session for the Feedback Hub on Windows 10, with the company to delete all posts that are older than 15 months.

In other words, the old feedback is going away, and to be honest, this is something that makes perfect sense, especially because keeping all the posts around makes it harder for users to find entries that are still relevant.

The majority of Windows 10 users are already running newer versions of the operating system, so keeping feedback for versions that have already been discontinued doesn’t make much sense.

Relevant submissions should be reposted

Microsoft says that users who posted Windows 10 feedback that is still relevant today can repost it in the Feedback Hub to make sure it doesn’t get purged as part of this new cleaning session.

“In an effort to improve feedback relevance, in the coming weeks we will be implementing a change to only retain and display the last 15 months worth of feedback in the Feedback Hub. This will not impact Achievements, Quests, or Collections. If you have feedback older than the retention period that you would like us to consider, please take a moment to create a new feedback item for it. Best practices for creating actionable feedback for the engineering team are available here if needed,” Microsoft explains.

The Feedback Hub has become a valuable place for both users and Microsoft itself, as this is one of the main places where people can submit bugs and request new features for Windows 10.

And now that Microsoft is preparing for the biggest overhaul of the operating system since launch, keeping things organized makes even more sense, as it could help everyone see only the posts that add some value to the effort of improving Windows 10 in the short term.
