Microsoft has just announced a new partnership with NASCAR and Hendrick Motorsport that would help the company promote the new Windows 10 operating system and the free upgrade that's available for Windows 7 and 8.1 users.

Microsoft and NASCAR already signed an agreement in 2014 for the Surface tablet and for an app that allowed to collect data about cars participating to the three NASCAR series, so this new deal is an extension to the original one that covers Windows 10.

The Redmond-based company announced that Windows 10 branding will be displayed on the car of Dale Earnhardt Jr. at Sonoma Raceway on June 28 and at Pocono Raceway on August 2. Windows 10 logos will be displayed on the hood and the back of the car, while Microsoft's logo will appear on both sides.

NASCAR will also adopt Windows 10 and Azure to analyze tire wear, fuel consumption and car setup, with the new operating system to be used across a wide variety of devices, including tablets.

NASCAR content for everyone

Microsoft says that in the future, NASCAR could use Windows 10 and Azure to reach its fans and provide them with access to race content right on their mobile devices or TVs.

“With Windows 10, NASCAR can run one code base for apps across all types of devices and race operations. This gives officials and NASCAR operations the freedom to move around the track to make better decisions, versus being locked down in a hauler inside, or outside, the track. In the future, our partnership will let NASCAR bring this data to its fans quicker – be it on jumbo screens at the track, on TV or on fans’ mobile devices,” Microsoft said in today's announcement.

Windows 10 is projected to debut on July 29, so the partnership with NASCAR comes just at the right time to make sure that more people hear about the free upgrade available for Windows 7 and 8.1 users.
