14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft already has a Windows Bridge for iOS that allows developers coding for Apple’s platform to bring their projects to Windows 10, but now the company is looking into getting in touch with app makers directly on Apple’s own playground.
The software giant will be holding a party at Apple’s next week WWDC conference, and absolutely all iOS and OS X developers are invited. Microsoft doesn’t provide too many details about the agenda, but it’s very clear where this is going.
The company wants to show developers how easy it is to port an app developed for iOS to Windows 10 with Project Islandwood, but also to emphasize the advantages of a universal app that can run on a wide array of devices with the same code.
There’ll also be discussions about Microsoft’s apps on iOS, as it’s a well-known fact that the company is investing a lot in its apps for this platform, but also about Xamarin, one of Redmond’s most recent acquisitions.
Prizes for those who attend
And to make sure that developers have all the reasons in the world to attend the event, Microsoft is also offering some prizes to those who show up to the party.
“Simply check in at the door and you'll be entered into our draw to win your choice of an Apple Watch Sports or an Xbox One (1 winner announced every hour),” Microsoft explains. “Come see the Test Cloud Wall in action and indulge in the Xamarin Playground. Microsoft and Xamarin will thus provide food and drinks, according to the official event page, and will “chat about iOS,” although the focus will clearly be on porting apps to Windows 10.
