Microsoft is making Microsoft Teams a first-class citizen of the Windows 11 world, so in addition to the chats integration right into the taskbar, the company has also recently announced an ability to quickly mute and mute an active meeting call.

This week, the Redmond-based software giant has announced a new feature specifically to push the Microsoft Teams integration in Windows 11 even further.

Starting with Windows 11 preview build 22499, users can quickly share open app windows in a Microsoft Teams call directly from the taskbar.

When hovering a window on the taskbar, you should now see an option called “Share this window,” which when clicked automatically shares it on an active Microsoft Teams call.

“When you are in a meeting call through Microsoft Teams, simply hover over the apps running on your taskbar and you will see a new button that allows you to share your window with your meeting attendees. When you are done sharing your content, hover over the window again and click Stop Sharing or choose another window and click Share this Window. If you’re presenting a full screen presentation in PowerPoint, simply move your mouse to the bottom and your taskbar will pop up for you to share or stop sharing the presentation without interruption to your attendees,” Microsoft says.

Other apps supported too

Microsoft says this feature is currently rolling out for a limited number of users in the Windows Insider program, but it promises the whole thing would progress as it collects more feedback on how the whole thing works.

Both school and work accounts would be supported, and Microsoft says it’s also working on bringing this to Chat from Microsoft Teams at a later time.

The good news is that other apps can also implement this feature, so theoretically, other software could also allow you to share windows from the taskbar.
