Microsoft has kicked off sales of its new Surface Studio 2 all-in-one PC, and customers in the United States can order the device both online and in retail stores.

The Surface Studio 2 was announced on October 2 alongside a new lineup of Surface devices, including the Surface Headphones, and the device goes on sale today starting at $3,499 in the United States.

There are three different configurations of the Surface Studio 2 that are available for this generation.

The base model comes with an Intel Core i7 processor paired with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, while the mid-range hardware configuration, which is offered for $4,199, is upgraded to 32GB RAM. It also comes with an Intel Core i7 chip and 1TB storage.

The top-of-the-range Surface Studio 2 can be yours for $4,799, and this time you get the same i7 chip, but paired with 32GB RAM and 2TB storage.

Upgraded specs

While aesthetically the Surface Studio 2 is very similar to its predecessor, the new-generation model comes with some welcome upgrades that you may not necessarily notice when checking out the list of specifications.

The 28-inch PixelSense display, for example, has received major upgrades which Microsoft says have mostly happened in the brightness and contrast departments, with improvements of 38 percent and 22 percent, respectively, over the previous model.

The Surface Studio 2 also gives up on the classic HDD storage option and comes with SSD exclusively, and the top model boasts 2GB.

You get the same innovation as on the first-generation Surface Studio, including a Zero Gravity hinge that makes it possible to adjust the orientation of the screen, as well as the support for the Surface Dial.

There are two different graphics cards available on the Surface Studio now, namely NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5 memory for the base model and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5 memory for the most expensive version.
