Patent hints at name of the upcoming Surface AIO

Microsoft is expected to launch a new Surface All-in-One PC on Wednesday, but as it usually happens with new products, only a limited amount of information is available.

Some new patents, however, provide us with a closer look at a possible name of the Surface PC, as they seem to be related in one way or another to the upcoming Microsoft computer.

A recently-filed patent hints that Microsoft's Surface PC could be called Surface Studio, which makes sense given the rumors that Redmond wanted to tackle the living room and offer a little bit more than just an AIO computer. What's uncanny, though, is that this patent is filed by a Slovenian company, but it's believed that this firm has actually protected the name on behalf of Microsoft.

At the same time, there are also patents related to other Microsoft products, and one of them is "Surface laptop." As everyone knows, Microsoft already has a laptop, and it is called Surface Book, so there is a big chance that the software giant just wanted to make sure that nobody trolls it with a device called Surface laptop.

New Surface devices

As for the Surface PC, it's believed it could come in three different sizes, obviously with premium prices, and with new accessories called Surface Mouse and Surface keyboard.

What's also important to note is that this year's hardware event hosted by Microsoft could also witness the introduction of other partner devices, including a possible Windows 10 Mobile phone from Alcatel.

Other Surface models, such as the Surface Book 2 and the Surface Pro 5, are only expected to see daylight in spring 2017. A supposed Surface Phone, which is eagerly expected by the Windows Phone community, is also likely to see daylight at some point in the future, but the information regarding this is still vague.

There are sources saying that the Surface Phone could also launch next year together with the new Surface models, while others believe that Redmond could wait until 2018 to introduce a new phone.
