The company claims it’s not dead though, at least not yet

Microsoft’s 2019 hardware lineup included several innovative products, such as the Surface Duo and the Surface Neo, both of which were supposed to power the company’s offensive in the dual-screen device market.

Both of them were supposed to launch by the holiday season of this year, and yet, everything advanced much faster than anticipated for the Surface Duo, so the device is already available for purchase after previously going on sale in September.

The Surface Neo, on the other hand, is still MIA, and as far as users are concerned, nobody knows for sure this dual-screen device is still coming or not.

In fact, not even Microsoft seems to be sure the Surface Neo is still worth it, especially because the operating system that’s supposed to power this dual-screen experience is also having a hard time reaching the final development phase.

Surface Neo now MIA

The Redmond-based software giant itself confirmed earlier this year that Windows 10X, and operating system built with dual-screen devices in mind, would actually first launch on single-screen devices initially, with support for the likes of Surface Neo to be added at a later time.

What this means is that the Surface Neo won’t be here anytime soon, and Microsoft itself has recently removed the device from its website as well. As Neowin noticed, the Surface Neo is no longer listed on Microsoft’s website as coming in the holiday season of 2020, so it’s a certain thing now that this new product would be pushed back indefinitely.

Microsoft, on the other hand, says there’s no reason to be concerned about the fate of the Surface Neo because the company just removed the said reference as it’s just rethinking its original plans.

“Earlier this year, we announced that we’re pausing development for Surface Neo. We do not have any updates to share at this time,” the company was quoted as saying in a statement.
