Microsoft will take the wraps off the Surface Laptop 3 in just a few hours at the company’s hardware event in New York, and new high-resolution photos that got leaked recently provide us with an early look at this new model.
The images, which were leaked on Twitter by well-known leaker Evan Blass, show the Surface Laptop 3 in several color versions, including silver, gold, what appears to be carbon, and Alcantara.
One of the things that remain a mystery despite this high-resolution leak concerns the connectivity options that will be offered by the Surface Laptop 3.
Pictured only from the right side in all leaked images, the Surface Laptop 3 is expected to come with USB-C as well, albeit, for the time being, a confirmation doesn’t exist.
The third-generation Surface Laptop will also include a 15-inch model, which helps Microsoft better compete against conventional laptops with larger screens.
AMD-powered Surface Laptop?
At this point, the biggest screen in the Surface lineup belongs to Surface Book 2, which also comes with a 15-inch version. Surface Book, however, won’t get a refresh this year, with more news for this model expected in the first half of 2020.
Rumor has it that the 15-inch Surface Laptop 3 could come with an AMD chip, although once again, there’s no confirmation of such a configuration so far. If this is true, it’ll be Microsoft’s first step away from long-time partner Intel, technically opening the door for more AMD-powered Surface models in the coming years.
All details will be announced later today at Microsoft’s press event, and the Surface Laptop 3 is expected to go on sale in a few weeks, with more markets likely to get it by the end of the year.
