Microsoft will be holding an event on October 2 to announce the company’s new hardware plans, and one of the most anticipated products that could see daylight there could be none other than the overly-discussed foldable Surface.

Microsoft’s Panos Panay tweeted a teaser for the event earlier today, revealing that the whole thing would also be streamed live on October 2.

“This October 2nd we're showing the world what's next for Surface & Microsoft...and we're doing it live,” Panay said.

Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella is also expected to attend the show, which means the company does have some pretty big news to share.

The next-generation Surface presumably called Microsoft Surface Pro 7, is expected to see daylight at the show alongside hardware upgrades for the Surface Book, Surface Go, and Surface Laptop.

Dual-screen Surface

However, if Nadella does take the stage on October 2, there’s a big chance Microsoft comes up with something truly innovative, and this is expected to be none other than the highly-anticipated dual-screen Surface model.

This new Surface, previously referred to as Centaurus, could help Microsoft pioneer a new form factor that is supposed to be embraced by other PC makers shortly after its debut. Needless to say, the dual-screen Surface would come with a special Windows version, and it’s believed that Microsoft would demo this software at the October 2 event as well.

Most likely, Microsoft will give some stage time to this special version of Windows, especially as it wants partners to see it in action before it’s installed on their devices.

Nevertheless, more information about what’s to come on the Surface front is expected in the coming weeks before the show, with all the Surface models to be announced on October 2 then likely to go on sale by the end of the month.
