Microsoft confirms new color for the Surface Earbuds

Microsoft announced the new Surface Duo Android device a few hours ago, and now the company is sharing more important news on the Surface front.

It’s a new color for the Surface Earbuds, the company’s very own rival to the Apple AirPods that has actually launched earlier this year.

The new color is called Graphite Grey, and at some level, it seems to match the finish of the Surface Slim Pen that comes with the Surface Duo. On the other hand, the dual-screen Android device is only available in Glacier, which is the grey finish that’s already a signature color for the Surface brand.

Subtle announcement

Microsoft isn’t making a big deal about the new Surface Earbuds color, and the company subtly included the announcement in the Surface Duo press release.

“Position Surface Duo’s screen like a tent and watch a video hands-free. Use Surface Duo in Compose mode to quickly respond to an email, or tilt it into portrait for a more immersive way to scroll through web pages or photos. Pair your Surface Duo with a supported Bluetooth controller to play games on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or with Surface Earbuds, coming Sept. 10 in Graphite Grey, to listen to your favorite playlist or podcast,” Microsoft said.

As far as features are concerned, nothing changes on the Surface Earbuds coming in Graphite Grey, so if you already own the original version, getting this new model doesn’t make much sense.

The good news is that the Surface Earbuds continue to be some of the most affordable premium earbuds on the market, as they can be yours today for $199. Microsoft originally planned to sell them for $249, but this new price tag makes them a lot more appealing for all users.
