iOS 10 will go live for all eligible Apple devices next week, and Microsoft, just like all the other iOS app developers, is trying to make sure that its apps are working smoothly on the new operating system, so it has started delivering updates to offer full support for this version.

One of the first Microsoft apps getting iOS 10 support is Outlook Groups, which has now reached version 1.10.10 and can be downloaded from the App Store.

More updates to come

According to the official changelog provided by Microsoft, this new version not only works smoothly on the new iOS release, but it also brings changes to the way groups lists are sorted. Starting with this update, groups list now sorts based on recent activity, and Microsoft has an explanation why it decided to introduce this behavior.

“While on mobile, you want to quickly understand what’s new with your groups, and with the sorting of the groups list based on new activity, you can collaborate more effectively,” it said.

Additionally, the changelog mentions “numerous” bug fixes and feature improvements, so everything should be running much more smoothly after installing the update.

Of course, Outlook Groups will continue running smoothly on previous versions of iOS too, but it’s good to see Microsoft updating it to support the latest release too. iOS users typically rush to install the latest versions of iOS on their devices, and statistics have shown that nearly 90 percent of devices are already on iOS 9.

And given the success of the beta program launched by Apple, there are plenty of iPhone users out there who are running the developer preview or the public betas of iOS 10, even though they’re not necessarily interested in providing feedback, but only in finding out what’s new in this version.

All these users have already been updated to iOS 10 GM, so the more updates Microsoft ships for its apps to prepare them for iOS 10, the better.
