The first app to get such changes is Mail & Calendar

If you’re a long-time Windows 10 user, you’ve probably noticed that Microsoft releases updates for the pre-installed apps quite frequently and this is undoubtedly a thing the company deserves all praises for. But at the same time, the fact that Redmond doesn’t provide change logs is extremely frustrating, mostly because users have no idea what’s being fixed in the updates they install.

Microsoft is apparently aware of this thing, and the company is working to change this rather criticized approach with release notes that would be provided for Windows 10 app updates.

The first to benefit from release notes is the Mail & Calendar app, which has recently received a fresh “What’s new” section in the Settings screen that gets you to this page where all the updates are being detailed.

“Each time we released an update, we shared in your enthusiasm for uncovering what’s new, and we love it,” Microsoft explains. “We added a new in-app feature called Spotlight, that gives you the highlights in major updates. Here we will showcase our top new features that we hope you’ll check out,” it continued, adding that users can keep track of all app updates with the “What’s new” section.

Windows 10 update change logs

At first, Microsoft refused to provide release notes for Windows 10 updates as well, but after criticism from users who installed the operating system, the company changed its mind and started to provide more information on the contents of each patch.

It turns out that it’s now ready to do the same thing for app updates too, although it’s very clear that minor updates bringing only small fixes and improvements are very likely to remain undocumented.

And yet, it’s still a good thing that Microsoft’s adapting its update strategy to meet user demands, so everyone’s now looking forward for more information on every single release bringing changes on Windows 10 devices.
