Hopefully they’re not coming to Windows 10 anytime soon

Microsoft keeps working on further polishing the Windows 10 Start menu, and the company is now rolling out a change that users really seem to love.

The theme-aware live tiles, which are now available for Windows insiders, give up on the solid color backgrounds and align with the rest of the visual style in the operating system.

What this means is that you’re getting a little bit of consistency from one end to another, and Windows 10 overall feels a lot more modern just because of this very simple addition.

In the meantime, a new video that Microsoft has showcased to present its modern design approach for Windows 10 provides us with a look at a new live tile design, this time most likely created just for demo purposes.

Thanks, but no, thanks

The new live tile design is ugly, to say the least, and I can only hope it wouldn’t come to Windows 10 anytime soon. I mean, the theme-aware live tiles are much more beautiful than this concept, especially because they don’t have the awful border around them.

On the other hand, this video is just another confirmation that live tiles aren’t going anywhere. People close to the matter said on several occasions that Microsoft might eventually remove the live tiles, simply because not a long of people are using them anymore.

Microsoft’s plan, according to these sources, was to stick with a more static approach similar to the one in Windows 10X. However, it looks like this plan has since been dropped, and now Microsoft just wants to keep live tiles around for a little longer. And of course, to further improve them, that is, albeit I don’t expect too many apps, other than Microsoft’s, obviously, to become fully committed to live tiles in the long term.
