Concept imagines Microsoft’s hero device

The Surface Phone is a dream that’s yet to come true, despite all the rumors claiming the release of a new mobile device is imminent.

But in the meantime, skilled designers across the world bring to life their own versions of the Surface Phone using information that made the rounds in the last few months. Such an example is this project published by Harry Dohyun Kim on Behance.

As you can see for yourselves, the concept envisions the approach that Microsoft is believed to be very interested in and relying on a foldable display approach.

Patents have shown that Microsoft wants to build a device featuring not one, but two different displays, and using an innovative hinge design, it would allow for multiple form factors. For instance, this model could double as a laptop and a tablet depending on the position and the angle of the screens.

The concept here shows this hybrid device in these form factors, showing that a foldable display approach could really come in handy when bundled with Windows 10.

Andromeda OS

Obviously, everything looks good on paper, but there still are things that need to be refined, and this is where Microsoft itself needs to come up with its know-how. The company is said to be working on a new shell codenamed Andromeda OS that would make Windows 10 the proper choice for devices like these, though it remains to be seen how everything would work.

The latest speculation on the Surface Phone front indicates that Microsoft could introduce the device by the end of the year, and a fall release could take place alongside other new Surface models from the company. Of course, this is just speculation right now, so time will tell how accurate these rumors are.

But for now, Microsoft would really do itself a favor to check out concepts like these, as they bring forward interesting ideas that the community seems to love.
