The company says the traffic is three times bigger

The Microsoft Store has gone through a major transformation with the release of Windows 11, and this includes not only a completely new and more modern UI but also a new set of policies making it more appealing for third-party developers.

In other words, Microsoft has managed to make the Microsoft Store the place where most developers want to publish their software, and the company says its efforts are already paying off.

The software giant claims the traffic in the Microsoft Store is no less than three times higher right now, all thanks to the debut of Windows 11 and the new policies.

“Windows 11 is also helping drive 3X more traffic to the newly redesigned Microsoft Store. Building on our open platform, we announced new Store policies last year to create greater economic opportunity for creators and developers, paving the way for not only new apps but new storefronts like Amazon and Epic Games. We’re energized by the feedback from both our customers and partners about the new Microsoft Store,” the company says.

The new Microsoft Store

One of the biggest policy updates in the Microsoft Store concerns browsers. On Windows 11, browsers can be published on the Microsoft Store with their own engines, and many developers out there applauded the change.

This is why Mozilla Firefox, Opera, and others are already available for download from the Microsoft Store.

“Until recently, Microsoft’s store policies required that all web browsers use the engine that Microsoft had built into their platform which meant we were unable to ship the Firefox you know and love in the Windows Store. This was not only bad for you but bad for the web because it meant that the web on Windows 11 would only have the features Microsoft was willing to provide. People deserve choice and we’re glad there is an easier option to download Firefox on Windows,” Mozilla said last year.
