Microsoft watcher reveals new hardware called Project S

October 2 is the day when Microsoft will take the wraps off upgrades for several of its Surface models, including the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop.

In addition, the company is expected to unveil an all-new foldable Surface model during the same event, with sales most likely projected to begin sometime in 2020.

But it looks like Microsoft is working on so much more for the Surface lineup, albeit the information that reaches the web is extremely vague.

This is the case of a recent revealing made by Microsoft watcher WalkingCat on Twitter and pointing to something called Project S that Microsoft is currently developing.

Details are missing for now, but WalkingCat says Project S appears to be part of the Surface group, and there’s a chance it’s something in the form of a device.

Possibly a new device

When asked whether this could be the highly-anticipated Santorini, the tipster suggested the two might be separated projects.

“Possibly. But IIRC Santorini is said to be the code name for new UI experience? while "Project S" looks to be a device, so, no idea,” the tweet reads.

It goes without saying that Microsoft hasn’t said a single word about this mysterious Project S device, and the company is unlikely to comment on the revealing anytime soon.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is putting all its Surface efforts into the upcoming October 2 event when the firm will unveil its new models. If all the reports are accurate, in just a few weeks we should be able to order a new Surface Pro model (possibly called Surface Pro 7), a new Surface Pen, an upgraded Surface Go, and the Surface Laptop 3.

By the looks of things, Surface Book refinements wouldn’t be announced at the show, with Microsoft actually planning a more dramatic overhaul for 2020.
