Bing now has a dark theme for mobile users

Dark modes are the new cool thing in mobile, so they’re pretty much everywhere you look these days, including in apps and the operating systems themselves.

And because everyone uses dark modes on Android and iPhone, Microsoft just couldn’t ignore this trend and decided to build a dark theme for the Bing.com search engine too.

In fact, Microsoft has long been one of the companies committed to offering a dark mode for its products, so right now, even Windows 10 comes with such a visual style. And needless to say, many of the company’s apps boast dark modes too, so it’s not necessarily a surprise that this kind of update is making its way to Bing.com too.

At this point, the dark mode on the mobile version of Bing.com is available under a toggle, so users need to manually enable it. As you can see in the screenshots included in the gallery here, the toggle is available in the side menu on the search engine, and can be enabled regardless of the browser that you are using.

Available on both Android and iOS

However, it’s important to keep in mind that the page can’t follow the system settings because it doesn’t have access to such information. In other words, if you already enabled a dark mode system-wide on your iPhone or Android 10 device, Bing.com can’t automatically enable the same visual style for the search engine, so the whole thing needs to be done manually.

The dark mode is currently exclusive to mobile devices and is not available on the desktop.

Microsoft originally announced the dark mode for its mobile search engine back in April, and now it’s rolling out for everybody out there, regardless of the mobile platform that they use. There’s nothing special that you need to do, other than activating the dark mode as explained above.
