Getting help on Windows 10 is not as easy as you think

It’s no longer a secret that Microsoft’s support services are awful, and if you’re a daily Softpedia reader, you’ve probably found our articles pointing to user complaints about either the way company support engineers treated them or the lack of information they were met with after waiting for hours on the phone.

This time, we’ve come across a story posted by a Windows 10 user who upgraded from Windows 7 and ran into trouble with the new operating system.

Obviously, the first thing he tried was to contact Microsoft and ask for help, but contrary to his expectations, he was transferred from one number to another until he finally gave up. Waiting for several hours on the phone is clearly not an option, especially when you have work to do and your computer no longer starts because of Windows 10.

No answer on support forums either

Microsoft Community user Al Stewart 242 explains why he decided to contact Microsoft support:

“Simple upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 has turned into a nightmare. Upgrade run. Goes through setup. Gives me login. Goes to let's start. Then I get a blue/grey dead screen. Try task manager, to see what is or is not running. No response to control alt delete. Turn off/on for safe mode boot. Does not respond.”

His full post in which he explains his experience with Microsoft support is detailed at the end of the article.

The worst thing about everything isn’t necessarily the fact that he didn’t receive any help from Microsoft’s support engineers on the phone, but that he posted everything online on Microsoft’s forums and nobody working for the company even replied.

Obviously, his only chance right now is to search for information on how to fix his computer or call Microsoft support again. Although we’re pretty sure he’ll never go for the latter ever again.
