Microsoft-owned GitHub has recently purchased Pull Panda, a platform whose purpose is to improve workflow management and made reviewing code more effective.

While no specifics have been provided on the terms of the deal, GitHub says the biggest change after the acquisition is that all subscriptions previously offered by Pull Panda will be available free of charge.

Pull Panda originally offered premium plans between $14 per month and $149 per month, so GitHub releasing everything at no cost is certainly good news for developers worldwide.

All subscriptions now free

As GitHub puts it, the three main features of Pull Panda re Pull Reminders, Pull Analytics, and Pull Assigner, described below by the company in the official announcement:

Pull Reminders: Get a nudge in Slack when a collaborator needs your review. Automatic reminders ensure that pull requests never slip through the cracks. Pull Analytics: From wait times to top contributors, get real-time insight into the effectiveness of your team’s process. Then make data-driven improvements that create a more transparent and accountable culture. Pull Assigner: Automatically distribute code across your team, so no one gets overloaded and knowledge gets spread around.

Naturally, GitHub plans to implement all capabilities offered by Pull Panda into its own offering, albeit the company admits this won’t happen overnight. The plan in the long term is to make everything available in Pull Panda part of GitHub, so at some point in the future, the two will be merged for a little bit of more consistency.

Meanwhile, GitHub lets users enjoy all of Pull Panda with the dedicated app in the GitHub Marketplace application, and given everything is available free of charge, it goes without saying that you should give it a try right away to see how this new acquisition improves working with workflows.
