Feature already available in Win32 version of Outlook

Microsoft has already announced a series of major changes to its email service, but it looks like the company is also working on several other improvements that are quietly rolling out to its desktop clients.

The Win32 version of Outlook has recently been updated with notifications displayed to users when attaching invoices in new emails.

Basically, the feature works similarly to the one that warns you whenever you type the term attachment in the text body. When you do this without actually attaching a file to your email, Outlook issues a notification to make sure that you don’t forget to include the file before sending.

With this new notification, Outlook lets you know that attaching an invoice means that the contact receiving the email could be able to access personal information. This behavior isn’t triggered by the word invoice included in the body of the email, but by the same term in the name of the attached file.

As reported by German site WindowsUnited, this feature is already part of the Win32 version of Outlook but should become available for everyone in all the other flavors of the email service shortly.

Other Outlook improvements

Microsoft will be bringing several new features to Outlook in the coming months, including bill pay reminders which are tracked automatically, suggested event locations and meeting rooms for your calendar appointments, and BBC warning when you respond to emails.

Outlook for Android and iOS will also get significant updates, like support for syncing draft folders, Office Lens tech, quick replying, options to mark contacts as favorite, and settings to block external content. This last feature should help you protect against online tracking and emails received from digital marketers and will first launch on Android this month.

More features could be rolling out to Outlook users in the coming months, so 2018 is going to be quite an exciting year for those sticking with Microsoft’s email service.
