Redmond starts promoting fake holiday hits album

After rolling out the company’s very own holiday commercial, Microsoft is back with another Christmas surprise, this time called Microsoft Holiday Hits.

As you could easily figure out, the whole thing is supposed to be a music album, and Microsoft has actually put a lot of effort into making it look real.

But it’s not, and the purpose here is to have some fun, though judging from the responses the company received on Twitter, it should really launch a collection of Christmas carols because some people would buy it anyway.

Getting back to the Microsoft Holiday Hits, this one is supposed to come in the form of a four-CD music album that contains a series of Christmas carols personalized for the world of Microsoft and including hits like “You’re on Mute” Night, Let it Segoe, Frosty the Windowsman, The Most Wonderful Teams of the Year, and Clippy, Clippy, Clippy.

“This year, ring in the season with Microsoft Holiday Hits! It’s the perfect way to embrace this joyous time of year. Reply All Records presents Microsoft Holiday Hits, the greatest collection of holiday songs ever assembled. 60 festive favorites on 4CDs or 4 longplay cassettes,” Microsoft said in the ad.

Bingle Bells, Bingle Bells

While some of the titles sound cringey, to say the least, the lyrics are quite catchy, and Bingle Bells is one of the best examples in this regard.

“Bingle Bells, Bingle Bells, Bing goes all the way Oh, what fun it is to surf The World Wide Web today, hey!”

Of course, it won’t make anyone give up on Google and use Bing, but on the other hand, it’s one clever way to make the name of Microsoft’s search engine remain stuck in people’s heads.
