Surface Duo is Microsoft’s first big bet in the Android device ecosystem, and needless to say, its debut was seen by many as a turning point not only for the software giant but for the mobile industry as well.

And it’s all because the Surface Duo marks not only the debut of Microsoft’s mobile race but also a huge investment in the dual-screen form factor, which many consider the future of smartphones as a whole.

Since the debut of the Surface Duo, Microsoft has been working on bringing the device to more markets, but it’s not a secret that until recently, the availability has been very limited.

And at some level, it still continues to be, as the Surface Duo is still available only in a handful of markets, with Microsoft to probably aim for a broader launch once the second-generation version goes live.

In the meantime, the Surface Duo has obviously been offered with a premium price, which makes total sense given it’s a Microsoft product and it comes with a dual-screen form factor.

Lowest price since launch

But this week, Woot has launched an offer that you really can’t refuse. The Surface Duo is now available for just $599, which means Microsoft’s Android device now costs less than an iPhone 12.

It goes without saying that the Surface Duo and an iPhone 12 are completely different beasts, but on the other hand, if you’ve been waiting for just the right moment to buy Microsoft’s Android device, this is pretty much the one. There’s a chance the Duo wouldn’t get any cheaper than this, and at $599, it’s really a bargain, even with all its shortcomings.

Because yes, the Surface Duo does come with a series of shortcomings, including a previous-generation processor that has left many hoping for more on the second model.

At this point, there’s no ETA as to when the Duo 2 could see the daylight, with some sources suggesting the device could land in the fall of this year.
