A new beginning for the legendary franchise

Unsurprisingly, Microsoft announced a new Fable game that will be launched on Xbox Series X and Windows 10 PCs. The new title seems rather a reboot of the series rather than a sequel to Fable III, the last important installment in the series launched back in 2010.

Although the original series was developed by Lionhead Studios, the studio founded by Peter Molyneux, Mark Webley, Tim Rance, and Steve Jackson 23 years ago, the upcoming title is being developed by Playground Games, a studio known for the Forza series.

Microsoft decided to close down Lionhead Studios four years ago, but many employees joined Playground Games specifically to work on a new Fable game. Unfortunately, it's too early to tell if the game will keep the same pedigree of blending dark and humorous moments, although the teaser trailer released by Microsoft this week suggests so.

The new Fable game is described as “a new beginning for the legendary franchise,” but other than that, there is no real info about what we should expect. Furthermore, Microsoft announced the game is developed for the Xbox Series X and Windows 10 PCs, but it didn't confirm when will be launched.

We don't even have a release window, but it's safe to assume that the new Fable game will not be launched in 2020. On the bright side, Microsoft announced that the upcoming title will be available on the Xbox Game Pass at launch, which means subscribers will be able to play it for free on either PC or Xbox Series X.

Considering that Microsoft didn't show too much of the game, we don't expect any more details about the new Fable until next year. The bottom line is now that Microsoft confirmed a new Fable, we're definitely hungry for more details, so here is hoping we'll get more info sooner rather than later.
