Paint 3D has received another important update as Microsoft is working to improve the file saving experience in Windows 10.

Basically, starting with Paint 3D version 4.1805.25027.0 users are provided with more options when saving files, which brings Microsoft’s new app closer to more advanced photo editors already available in Windows.

Currently available only for insiders but expected to launch for everyone else in the coming weeks, this update brings options to easily select the format of the output file, a feature that was already there, but which has been enhanced with this update.

As WBI notes, this new interface also comes with options to change photo dimensions, as users can select length and width on the go. Settings to maintain aspect ratio are also offered. Additionally, in the case of PNG photos, users can choose to save transparency.

Replacing the classic Paint app

The interface reminds of more advanced photo editors, though it goes without saying that Paint 3D isn’t there just yet. In fact, this isn’t the purpose of this app, as what Microsoft plans to do is provide Windows 10 users with easy access to essential photo editing tools, while also putting the focus on 3D content.

While the focus is now on Paint 3D, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the classic Paint app would go away. Instead, Microsoft will keep it around for a little longer, and is now offering it in the Microsoft Store for anyone who wants to continue using it. But needless to say, Paint 3D will be the one getting new features and improvements, so sooner or later, the switch will become the only way to go for most users.

You can download the new Paint 3D app from the Microsoft Store, but keep in mind that you must be an insider to try out the revamped file saving interface.
