14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft announced that it is retiring Office Live Meeting on December 31, as all its features were migrated to Skype for Business and Skype Meeting Broadcast.
The company says that all data needs to be migrated by the end of the year, explaining that meetings that are already scheduled should work as planned until December 31. Guides to assist customers with the transition, as well as a Recording Exporter Tool have also been released.
The application helps users easily download any or all meeting recordings that are listed in Live Meeting, which can be afterward imported in Skype for Business or Skype Meeting Broadcast.
Microsoft engineer Doug Deitterick has also posted a feature comparison chart to show that most of the features that were available in Live Meeting have already migrated to Skype for Business and Skype Meeting Broadcast, with some worthy upgrades, such as the attendee scale which got bumped from 1250 to no less than 10,000 maximum attendees.
Migration needs to start as soon as possible
Additionally, the upgraded services offer support for participating in meetings using more than just Windows devices, including iOS and Android, as well as HD video with video-based screen sharing.
“We’ve been working hard to get Skype for Business and Skype Meeting Broadcast ready with new conversation and meeting features, so we’re inviting you to begin the migration from Live Meeting to Skype for Business. We encourage you to begin the move from Live Meeting to Skype for Business as quickly as possible, completing the migration no later than December 31, 2017, at which time the existing Live Meeting service will be fully shut down,” the announcement reads.
