The just-released Windows 10 build 15019 comes with a long list of new features, but also with improvements to the existing options, including a new name plus some other tweaks for the blue light filter.

Starting with this build, the feature is no longer called “Blue light” but “Night light,” as the company believes that it better reflects its purpose.

“To make it more accurately reflect what the feature does, we’ve renamed it ‘night light’. We made some improvements to the night light feature that lets you preview the setting before applying it,” Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider program, said.

Additionally, the company has also implemented a series of fixes that are supposed to improve the overall experience that users get when enabling the blue light filter.

More tweaks for the blue light filter

Specifically, Microsoft says Windows insiders should no longer see an issue “where right-clicking the night light quick action from the Action Center and selecting Settings brought up the Settings home page and not the night light specific setting.”

There were also users who complained that when resuming computer from sleep, blue light filter would not be applied correctly, and the software giant promises that everything works correctly in this build. And last but not least, crashes experienced by Explorer when waking a device with the blue light filter activated should no longer occur.

Although Microsoft did change the name of the feature, it continues to be available in the same place, namely Settings > System > Display.

And the name change shouldn’t take anyone by surprise given the fact that it’s all happening as part of the Windows insider program. Using preview builds of Windows 10, the company is experimenting with all kinds of features, so don’t be too surprised if more options are implemented in the meantime.

Windows 10 Creators Update is projected to launch in April, and the upcoming builds could continue this series of tweaks brought to the blue light filter.
