Microsoft has released a new Windows 11 build in the form of update KB5022360 for Windows insiders who are enrolled in the Release Preview channel of the program.

Of course, the focus is on bug fixes and further polishing, but one very important change concerns .NET Framework updates, as Microsoft is moving the information on the installed updates to a new home.

“We changed the experience for preview .NET Framework updates. After you installed this update, all future preview (optional) .NET Framework updates will be displayed on the Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates page. On that page, you could control which optional updates you wanted to install,” the company explains.

Furthermore, this new update also comes with fixes for various bugs in Windows 11 version 22H2, including for the problem that caused some apps using Microsoft Edge WebView2 to no longer be able to display content. In some cases, these apps ended with a blank or greyed out screen, with Microsoft explaining that even Office and the Widgets app were affected.

Microsoft, however, explains that beginning this month, the way updates are shipped to the Release Preview channel would help reduce the number of updates required for computers that are part of this ring.

“This month we are making a change in Release Preview to reduce the number of reboots that customer experience when upgrading. Starting this month, when customers upgrade to Windows 11, version 22H2, they will get the January optional quality update (KB5022360) and the .NET update alongside the Feature Update. This means when you upgrade to Windows 11, version 22H2 you will get the feature update with the latest and greatest security fixes for both Windows and .NET– all with only a single reboot!” the company says.
