Microsoft has just shipped a new Windows 11 preview build for insiders in the Dev channel. As compared to the previous releases, however, Windows 11 build 25182 doesn’t come with major new features, as the focus has clearly been on improving the overall performance of the operating system and fixing some of the reported bugs.

Very important to know is that Microsoft has set a new expiration date for Windows 11 preview builds.

“Starting with Build 25182, the expiration date is now September 15th, 2023. It is recommended Insiders update to this build to avoid build expiration notices,” the company explains in today’s announcement.

As said, the focus has been entirely on fixing bugs and polishing Windows 11, so this new preview build addresses several problems, including the one making it impossible to download the latest preview build because of low disk space errors.

Important fixes

In other words, if you were using a device with low disk space, there’s a chance you couldn’t download the latest updates from Windows Update, and Microsoft says it has now resolved the problem.

“We fixed the issue that was causing devices with low disk space to receive download error 0x80070001 in Windows Update trying to install the latest Dev Channel build. Fixed an issue leading to some Insiders experiencing a decrease in FPS when playing certain games in recent flights due to the wrong graphics card being used,” Microsoft says.

Microsoft warns that the explorer.exe crashes that were encountered starting with build 25179 are still there, but a fix is already in the works.

“A small percentage of Insiders are experiencing repeated explorer.exe crashes after attempting to access certain folders on your system on Builds 25179+. Insiders who have the Xbox Dev Kit installed will hit this. We’re working on a fix for this in a future flight,” the company explains.
