Microsoft has just released a new set of Windows 11 cumulative updates, and given it’s Patch Tuesday, the focus is obviously on security improvements.

The new cumulative updates for Windows 11 devices are the following:

According to the official changelog, in addition to the Patch Tuesday security fixes, the two updates also come with fixes for two major bugs.

The first of them affects the Local Session Manager, also known as LSM, while the second resolves a glitch impacting SQL servers.

Microsoft explains:

  • This update addresses issues that affect the Local Session Manager (LSM). These issues might allow users who do not have admin rights to perform actions that only an admin can.
  • This update addresses a known issue that affects apps that use Microsoft Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) SQL Server Driver (sqlsrv32.dll) to connect to databases. The connection might fail. You might also receive an error in the app, or you might receive an error from the SQL Server.

When it comes to the known issues in the two updates, Microsoft says there are two of them (both have previously been acknowledged in Windows 11 though), The first of them impacts provisioning packages, while the second makes it harder to copy large files on devices that have already been updated to version 2022 Update.

“Copying large multiple gigabyte (GB) files might take longer than expected to finish on Windows 11, version 22H2. You are more likely to experience this issue copying files to Windows 11, version 22H2 from a network share via Server Message Block (SMB) but local file copy might also be affected. Windows devices used by consumers in their home or small offices are not likely to be affected by this issue,” Microsoft says.

In both cases, Microsoft says it’s already working on a fix, and it should go live in a future update.
