A new build is live with lots of improvements

Microsoft has just released a new Windows 11 preview build in the Dev channel, and just as expected, there is a lot of good news.

First and foremost, the company continues the work on widgets, and this new build comes with a new game Pass widget that can be enabled in Windows 11.

At the same time, the company has also focused a lot on File Explorer, with a middle-click on a folder opening it in a new tab. This is behavior that perfectly makes sense, especially because the same approach is also used by browsers, so tab navigation in File Explorer now feels a little bit more familiar for Windows users.

New known issues in today’s build

What’s important to know, however, is that Windows 11 build 25174 comes with several new known issues, including some affecting the audio experience or apps crashing all of a sudden after installing the new release.

“We’re looking into reports that audio stopped working for some Insiders after upgrading to the last flight. We’re working on a fix for an issue leading to some Insiders experiencing a decrease in FPS when playing certain games in recent flights due to the wrong graphics card being used. We’re investigating reports of a few different apps having started crashing in recent builds,” Microsoft explains in the official changelog.

At the same time, the software giant says it’s aware of glitches impacting widgets and causing various problems, such as the notification badge number to be displayed misaligned on the taskbar.

“In some cases, the notification banner for some badging will not appear in the widgets board. We’re working on the fix for an issue causing Widgets preferences (temperature units and pinned widgets) to unexpectedly get reset to default,” it says.
