New build now available for insiders in the Fast ring

Microsoft has released a new Windows 10 preview build for users enrolled in the Fast ring of the Windows Insider program.

Windows 10 build 19028 is a testing build of the 20H1 feature update, currently codenamed Vibranium and projected to launch in the spring of 2020.

The new release doesn’t bring any new features, and the changelog is all about fixes and improvements for the overall performance of Windows 10.

For example, Microsoft says it has corrected a bug hitting Windows Update after installing a new cumulative update.

“We fixed an issue that could result in Windows Update history in Settings saying a Cumulative Update required a reboot, despite it already being installed. This occurred when a Feature on Demand had installed while the cumulative update was originally pending reboot,” the company explains in the release notes.

Windows 10 20H1 to be finalized this year

Windows 10 20H1 is believed to already be feature-complete, and according to people familiar with the matter, this is the reason these latest preview builds don’t bring any significant changes.

By the looks of things, with Windows 10 20H1 nearly complete, Microsoft wants to finalize the development in December and use the remaining months until launch to further refine the experience with it, thus delivering a more polished update from day one.

As per Microsoft’s typical release schedule, Windows 10 20H1 should go live in April or May next year. Previously, the development of spring feature update was completed in March.

You can download the latest Windows 10 20H1 preview build from the Fast ring. Microsoft is expected to open the Skip Ahead ring to deliver early builds of the next feature update for Windows 10 in the coming weeks or in early January.
