One major bug acknowledged in this build

Microsoft has just announced that Windows 10 Mobile build 14342.1004 can now be downloaded by users enrolled in the slow ring too, which is most often confirmation that everything’s running smoothly and only small bugs are found.

This time, however, there’s actually one important bug that everyone with a Microsoft Band smart wristband should have in mind if planning to install this new build on their devices.

It appears that Microsoft Health can cause excessive battery usage in this build, so using the Microsoft Band with a Windows 10 Mobile device running this version might actually be impossible. The company hasn’t detailed the issue too much and only explained that “we are aware of issues with some apps such as Microsoft Health running in the background causing higher than normal battery drain.”

What’s new in this build?

While everyone expects Microsoft to release a new Windows 10 Mobile build sometime this week, slow ring insiders who are now getting this previous version must know that 14342.1004 only comes with three different new features, but with a plethora of bug fixes and optimizations.

For example, this is the first build that introduces swipe navigation in Microsoft Edge, a feature that’s already available on PCs and that should be here with the Anniversary Update in the summer.

“Since the release of Windows 10 Mobile, our top feedback request for Microsoft Edge has been asking for the return of the swipe gesture to navigate back and forward. With this build, you can now swipe from anywhere on the page to get back to your previous page,” Microsoft explains.

Additionally, it also brings apps for websites, which makes it possible to open specific links with dedicated apps when they’re available, but also Feedback Hub improvements to suggest categories and subcategories for new posts. This is mostly an update specifically aimed at insiders, so those who are looking for new features might want to try the other two changes.
