This new build is also available for slow ring users

The Windows 10 Mobile development process seems to advance pretty nicely, with Microsoft deciding to roll out the most recent build to members of the slow ring too.

Basically, builds are pushed to the slow ring only when the Windows development team manages to fix the majority of bugs and address the critical issues, so seeing build 10586.71 go live for these users could be a sign that Redmond is really pleased with its performance.

At the same time, this also pushes us one step closer to the release of the official upgrade version for Windows Phone devices, which, according to people close to the matter, could arrive sometime this month.

Fixes for smoother upgrade experience

Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.71 comes with a lot of fixes, and it includes improvements to Windows Update performance and reliability, so Microsoft’s clearly trying to prepare a smooth transition from Windows Phone to the new operating system. This is actually a priority for the company right now, Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, explained in a post published earlier this week.

“We have continued to address feedback we receive on Windows 10 Mobile as well as the upgrade experience from Windows Phone 8.1. In some cases, these improvements will only be seen when upgrading from Windows Phone 8.1 such as improvements in cellular and Wi-Fi data profile migration or the availability of SensorCore API’s,” he said.

As for the upgrade version of Windows 10 Mobile for Windows Phone users, little is known at this point about the devices that are going to get it in the first phase, but Microsoft has already confirmed that all phones should be compatible with the new OS, no matter their hardware specifications.

It still remains to be seen when everyone gets the upgrade, but with the majority of users already running the preview build on their phones, it’s clearly a good thing for Microsoft to keep rolling out new early builds of the operating system.
