Microsoft is expected to launch Windows 10 Mobile later this month for Windows Phone devices, and the company has just taken a big step in this direction by rolling out build 10586.107 for non-insider devices.

Specifically, Lumia 950, 950 XL, and 550 are all getting the new build, which, according to an announcement, comes with several improvements and bug fixes supposed to make the operating system work more smoothly not only on these new Lumia phones but also on Windows Phone devices that are supposed to receive the upgrade.

“We have started rolling out the February cumulative update (10.0.10586.107) for Windows 10 Mobile today. Update availability will start with open market variants and will increase to everyone over the next week as we monitor and ensure quality of the release,” Microsoft announced. 10586.107 likely to be the upgrade version

With this new release, Microsoft is basically pushing Windows 10 Mobile 10586.107 closer to the official release, and now it’s believed that this particular build could be the version that the company plans to launch as an upgrade for Windows Phone devices.

If we are to trust information posted by Microsoft Mexico on Facebook, Windows 10 Mobile should roll out for Windows Phone devices on February 29, and the timing seems to be just perfect. Microsoft might be testing this build on new Lumia phones for approximately one week, and if everything goes smoothly, it could release the same build to Windows Phone handsets on February 29.

It’s not yet clear if all devices are in queue to get the upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile when the rollout begins, but the chances are that they are not, especially because the release is likely to take place in waves. It remains to be seen, however, how many devices are actually getting the new OS at first, because if the rollout is handled wrong, Microsoft might be hit by another avalanche of criticism from its users.
