Microsoft has just shipped a new set of cumulative updates for systems running Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version 1607) and Windows 10 Creators Update (version 1703).

Since they’re not released on Patch Tuesday, the focus is on non-security improvements, as Microsoft is addressing general performance bugs and issues impacting Windows and the built-in modules.

Windows 10 cumulative update KB4057144

While you can check out the contents of each update in the box after the jump, it’s worth highlighting that Windows 10 cumulative update KB4057144 bumps the version number of the OS to 15063.877.

It includes fixes for bugs with printing PDFs in Microsoft Edge, as well as several other problems that were mainly experienced by enterprises, including an issue causing backwards compatibility for managing Microsoft User Experience Virtualization (UE-V) with group policy to be lost.

“Windows 10 version 1607 group policy isn't compatible with Windows 10 version 1703 or higher group policy. Because of this bug, the new Windows 10 Administrative Templates (.admx) cannot be deployed to the Group Policy Central Store. This means that some of the new, additional settings for Windows 10 aren't available,” Microsoft says in the official changelog (embedded below).

The most important change brought by this update is a fix for AMD computers that were pushed into an unbootable state after installing the Meltdown and Spectre fixes released earlier this month. The company doesn’t detail too much this change, but it’s clearly critical for users of systems with AMD chips to install the update as soon as possible.

Windows 10 cumulative update KB4057142

In the case of cumulative update KB4057142, the changelog is much longer and includes various fixes, again many of them aimed at enterprises.

Bumping OS version number to 14393.2034, this update also addresses the bug that hit AMD systems which tried to install the botched Meltdown and Spectre fixes released in early January.

As it’s the case of cumulative update KB4057144, KB4057142 is supposed to restore full functionality on all AMD devices and keep them secure against the two known hardware vulnerabilities.

You can check out the full changelogs in the box below and we advise you to install these cumulative updates as soon as possible.
