Microsoft has released a new cumulative update for Windows 10 version 2004, 20H2, and 21H1, though this time, it’s only a preview of the next update coming as part of the September 2021 Patch Tuesday.

Windows 10 cumulative update KB5005101 obviously comes with several notable improvements, including for what Microsoft describes as a rare condition breaking down Bluetooth headsets and only allowing them to work for voice calls.

Furthermore, Microsoft says this update includes important files for touch input and black screen issues experienced on some Windows 10 devices.

“Updates an issue that might cause your device to stop working when making a touch input gesture. This issue occurs if you bring more fingers into contact with the touchpad or screen during the middle of the gesture. Updates an issue that might cause an external monitor to display a black screen after Hibernation. This issue might occur when the external monitor connects to a docking station using a certain hardware interface,” the company explains in a changelog, which you can read in full in the box after the jump.

Next update due on September 14

In addition, cumulative update KB5005101 resolves an issue that’s causing duplicate local accounts on some computers, with Microsoft explaining that it resolves the glitch by removing the duplicate accounts from the Local Security Account Manager database.

“Addresses an issue that might create duplicate built-in local accounts, such as administrator or guest account, during an in-place upgrade. This issue occurs if you previously renamed those accounts. As a result, the Local Users and Groups MMC snap-in (lusrmgr.msc) appears blank with no accounts after the upgrade,” it says.

Keep in mind this is a cumulative update preview, and all the changes that are included in KB5005101 will also be part of the upcoming update to roll out on September 14 automatically to all Windows 10 devices running version 2004 and newer.
