New cumulative update for Windows 10 version 1909

Microsoft has just released a new cumulative update for Windows 10, though this time it’s a preview of the next Patch Tuesday rollout for version 1909.

The new update, which lands as KB5003212, can be downloaded either from the Microsoft Update Catalog or by simply checking for updates manually in Windows Update. It won’t be pushed to devices automatically via Windows Update.

Windows 10 cumulative update KB5003212 is packed with fixes, including for a bug that prevents users from receiving geographic location information.

Furthermore, Microsoft says this update resolves a problem impacting the phone call muting option when transferring a call, while also fixing the glitch preventing a touch device from working as a serial mouse.

No fix for Microsoft 365 apps

While the changelog is pretty huge, and you can check it out in the box at the end of the article, there’s one highly anticipated fix that’s missing from it.

Microsoft hasn’t yet corrected a bug that causes Microsoft 365 apps to crash after installing the previous cumulative update, so there’s a chance users running Windows 10 version 1909 wouldn’t get a fix as part of the June Patch Tuesday.

“After installing this update and restarting your device, you might be unable to sign into some Microsoft 365 desktop client apps such as Microsoft Teams, OneDrive for Business and Microsoft Outlook. You might also receive an 80080300 error or "We ran into a problem. Reconnecting…" when attempting to authenticate or sign into Teams,” Microsoft explains about the bug, adding that an investigation is under way and a full fix should land in an upcoming update.

For the time being, what you can do is simply restart your device because, for some reason, Microsoft 365 apps should then be back up and running. If this doesn’t make any difference, just stick with the web versions of the Microsoft 365 apps until a full fix lands.
