New update available for Slow and Fast rings

Microsoft has released a new cumulative update for insiders in the Fast and Slow rings in order to fix issues and make Windows 10 build 18362 available for everyone.

Windows 10 cumulative update KB4497464 increases the OS build number to 18362.30 and includes three different fixes.

First and foremost, Microsoft says it has resolved a bug causing AAD users not to be able to sign-in after updating to 19H1 on AAD-joined PCs not enrolled into MDM. This is a patch that’s mostly aimed at enterprises, but it’s a critical fix given that we’re already in an advanced development stage of the Windows 10 19H1 update.

There are also fixes for a .NET Framework bug that was introduced in a previous cumulative update, as Microsoft itself explains.

“We fixed an issue where users were unable to enable\disable .NET Framework or other optional feature- on-demand (FODs) after installing recent Cumulative Updates,” Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider program, explains in the release notes of this new cumulative update.

Update coming next month

And last but not least, KB4497464 addresses a more notorious bug that pushed some PCs to an unbootable state after installing a previous cumulative update and then installing an optional feature-on-demand. This is an issue that triggered a block on some devices, which weren’t allowed to install this build from Windows Update.

Windows 10 19H1 is already in the final development stages, and Microsoft recently announced that it’d launch as Windows 10 May 2019 Update in late May. This means that despite already being finalized, Microsoft wants to test the update more thoroughly with help from insiders in the Release Preview ring.

The update will stay approximately one month in this particular ring before the public launch, so expect further cumulative updates to be shipped in the coming weeks in order to refine the experience with the May 2019 Update.
