Microsoft has released Windows 10 cumulative update KB4100375 for systems that have already installed the April 2018 Update.

This update was first published as part of the Windows Insider program in early April and was aimed at systems running Windows 10 build 17133, which at that point was the RTM version of the April 2018 Update.

On the other hand, according to reports, KB4100375 is now being released to all systems running the April 2018 Update already and is pushed to machines that complete the upgrade process on day one.

There are three changes in this update, including a fixed PDF security issue in Microsoft Edge, as well as a patch for Internet Explorer not being able to identify custom controls. The cumulative update also contains security updates for several Windows components, including the Scripting Engine, the Windows Kernel, the Microsoft Graphics Component, and the Windows Datacenter Networking service.

More updates coming next week

While seeing Microsoft rolling out this cumulative update once again is a little surprising, one reason could be that the company compiled a second RTM build and therefore these fixes weren’t included.

A new cumulative update that would include both security and non-security improvement is expected next week on Patch Tuesday, along with updates for all the other Windows 10 versions.

Microsoft will also begin the automatic rollout of Windows 10 April 2018 Update on Windows Update on May 8, as the update is currently available as a manual download exclusively. Users who want to upgrade their systems right now can use the stand-alone ISOs to install the April 2018 Update or manually perform a check for updates on Windows Update.

This, however, doesn’t prevent your system from hitting software or hardware compatibility issues, as compared to the automatic rollout whose main role would be to ensure smoother upgrade.
