In addition to the cumulative updates released by Microsoft for Windows 10 on the desktop, the software giant has also published an update for Windows 10 Mobile devices, again bringing security improvements, as well as an eagerly-awaited bug fix.

First and foremost, it’s worth noting that cumulative update KB4090912 for Windows 10 Mobile devices comes with all the improvements that are part of KB4088782, which is the cumulative update for PCs running Windows 10 Creators Update.

This means that it comes with improvements for Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer, as well as with security refinements for Windows 10 Mobile and the built-in components like the Windows Kernel and the Windows Shell.

Additionally, cumulative update KB4090912 addresses an issue with PDF documents that cannot be rendered in Microsoft Edge on phones, a bug that surfaced for the first time earlier this month and which the company actually fixed pretty fast.

Microsoft in mobile

On the good side, Microsoft says there are no known issues in this update, so users still running Windows 10 Mobile should get flawless experience on phones. The update bumps operating system build number to 15254.313.

While Windows 10 Mobile still receives such security updates, the platform is currently in maintenance mode, so no new features are currently in development. Support for Windows 10 Mobile ends in mid-2019, but Microsoft has already confirmed that no new features and devices are planned.

On the other hand, it’s believed a new mobile device is being developed by Microsoft, though the chances are it could come in the form of a digital Notepad. The device could see daylight as soon as this year, and people with knowledge of the matter said it could run Windows 10 on ARM with a multi-form factor approach that includes tablet and laptop. A clever hinge that would support all these form factors is likely to be offered, along with foldable screens for bigger screen space.
