Microsoft has released a brand new cumulative update for systems running Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, as it works to fix bugs and improve the performance of the latest version of its desktop OS.

Windows 10 cumulative update KB4051963 includes a bunch of fixes specifically aimed at Internet Explorer, the company’s browser that’s no longer offered as the main option in Windows 10.

For example, after installing this update, users should no longer experience bugs causing IE to stop working unexpectedly, while rendering graphics elements and form submissions should also work smoothly.

Additionally, Microsoft says that cumulative update KB4051963 fixes a performance regression experienced when users run full-screen Microsoft DirectX 9 games and applications, as well as a bug preventing new titles like Forza Motorsport 7 and Forza Horizon 3 to run on computers that have high-end hardware configurations.

This was a bug that impacted several systems in the last couple of weeks, so users with gaming systems who were unable to play these titles should install the update as soon as possible.

Just one known issue

There are also bug fixes for issues impacting network connectivity, with Microsoft explaining that this new update “addresses issue where RNDIS5 networking devices don't get a valid IP address or don't show network connectivity. If the issue continues after installing the update, you may need to uninstall and reinstall your Remote NDIS network adapter using Device Manager.”

While the update installed fine on our computers, it’s worth knowing that Microsoft does mention a known issue, saying that some Internet Explorer with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) enabled may not be able to scroll through a drop-down menu with the scroll bar.

This is a known issue that has been around for a while and it was first acknowledged in the November 2017 Patch Tuesday, but Microsoft says it’s still working on a fix. The only workaround right now is to load websites with document mode 10 by opening F12 dev tools, going to Emulation and selecting 10 in the Document mode drop-down menu.
