Microsoft has just released Windows 10 cumulative update KB4016252 to users enrolled in the Slow and Release Preview rings of the Windows Insider program, after previously publishing it for the Fast ring exclusively.

Making it available for more insiders means that KB4016252 is offering smooth performance and there’s a good chance it’s also released to retail users on April 11 when Microsoft ships Patch Tuesday updates.

What’s important to know is that this new cumulative update is aimed at systems running Windows 10 Creators Update (version 1703, build 15063), so unless you install the latest build as part of the Insider program, you’re not going to see it in Windows Update.

What’s new in cumulative update KB4016252?

As far as the changes that it brings are concerned, KB4016252 fixes an issue causing printer connections from clients running older versions of Windows (V3-XPS-based-drivers) to fail to connect to clients running the Windows 10 Creators Update, according to the official changelog. Additionally, there’s also a fix for the Surface Pro 3 and other similar devices which addresses a bug causing high CPU usage due to defective Realtek APOs.

And last but not least, there’s a third bugfix repairing a problem with non-suspendable processes that actually suspended after waking a device.

There are no reported failed installs with cumulative update KB4016252, and this is quite good news, especially because the previous cumulative updates caused quite a lot of issues on systems running Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

Given that KB4016252 could be the first public release, it’s critical for Microsoft to get it right, and making it available to Slow and Release Preview rings is living confirmation that everything is working correctly right now.

Cumulative update KB4016252 pushes Windows 10 build to 15063.14 and contains fixes from the previous Creators Update cumulative updates, including KB4016251. You can install it right away via Windows Update and a system reboot is necessary.
