RTM expected to ship to insiders by the end of the month

Microsoft has shipped Windows 10 build 17763 to insiders in the Slow ring, after the original Fast ring release took place earlier this week.

By making this particular build available for Slow ring insiders, build 17763 makes a major step towards becoming at least an RTM candidate for the upcoming October 2018 Update.

Also known as Redstone 5, this new OS feature update is projected to be finalized by the end of the month, and insiders are expected to get the RTM build in the coming days.

If build 17763 is indeed RTM, expect it to be promoted to the Release Preview ring in the near future, ahead of the public rollout kickoff in October.

Microsoft hasn’t said anything about the RTM build of Windows 10 October 2018 Update, and the company even mentions in the release notes of build 17763 that although a watermark is no longer present on the desktop, “it doesn’t mean we’re done.”

RTM ready this month

However, the product roadmap that leaked earlier this year indicated that RTM was projected to be ready in mid-September and released to insiders around the date of September 25.

As for the changes brought by this particular build, there are obviously no new features, as the full focus is now on fixing bugs and refining the performance of the OS ahead of the public debut. There are improvements for Microsoft Edge, Bluetooth audio, and PowerShell, but other than that, it’s just a typical build that gets us closer to the final development stage.

Windows 10 October 2018 Update will roll out to users in stages as part of an approach that has already been used by Microsoft before.

The first systems will get it in October, and more computers would be included at a later time as compatibility issues are resolved.
