Insiders in Fast ring and Skip Ahead get new testing build

Microsoft has rolled out a new Windows 10 build for insiders in the Fast ring and Skip Ahead, as the company is giving the final touches to the Fall Creators Update before the release is finalized next month.

Aside from a few new features for My People and a new font, the release notes of Windows 10 build 16273 are mostly about improvements and fixes, and it certainly makes sense: the Fall Creators Update is currently in the final development stages and Microsoft no longer focuses on new features, but on getting the new version ready for prime time.

Dona Sarkar, the head of the Windows Insider program, confirmed in an announcement today that the release pace would be slightly accelerated in the coming weeks, as we’re getting closer to the moment the RTM is signed off.

“We are now at the point of the development cycle for the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update where our focus is now on stabilization for release to the world. This means that we intend to release these builds to Insiders more quickly to both the Fast and Slow rings as these builds we include mostly bug fixes,” she explained.

New features

One of the new “features” is the Bahnschrift font, which supports several weights, including light and bold and a concept that’s called “duplex,” which means that characters that are typed with this font do not change in width when weight is adjusted.

“Bahnschrift is our own rendition of the DIN font standard. Apart from being the standard road sign font in Germany and much of Europe, DIN is frequently used by graphic designers for its high legibility and clean, hard-working design style,” Microsoft explains.

Other than that, this new build comes with a Windows Insider Emoji Bot in the taskbar in My People to help test emoji notifications on the desktop, but also with several other tweaks that you can check in full in the change log after the jump.
