14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft continues its work to get Windows 10 Anniversary Update ready for prime time, so the company has released a new preview build for PCs and mobile devices enrolled in the fast ring of the Windows Insider program.
Windows 10 build 14390 is all about fixing bugs and improving performance, and just like we’ve told you so many times before, you won’t be seeing any new features until the Anniversary Update goes live on August 2 for everyone.
What’s worth mentioning for this build, however, is that it comes with a new extension for Microsoft Edge browser - this extension isn’t exclusive to the new build, though, and we’ve already told you that insiders can get it from the store earlier this week, before the launch of 14390.
The new Amazon Assistant Edge extension
Microsoft, however, is very pleased to see more extensions launching for insiders and then for retail users too, so it provides us with a glimpse into how the new Amazon Assistant add-on works in Edge.
“Amazon Assistant helps you make better decisions wherever you shop online by giving you access to Deal of the Day, Product Comparison, Wish List and Shortcuts to your favorite Amazon destinations. Check out all of the available extensions by launching Microsoft Edge, opening the ‘…’ menu, selecting ‘Extensions’ and then clicking Get extensions from the Store,” it says.
There’s just one notable bug fix for PCs, and Microsoft says that, starting with this build, you should no longer see error code 0x80004005 when enabling the Developer Mode on a non-English version of the Windows 10 preview build.
There are also some known bugs, and you can check them in full after the jump, but there’s nothing major that could significantly affect your experience with Windows 10 Anniversary Update.
For what it’s worth, this build is living proof that we’re nearing the final development stages of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, whose debut is scheduled to take place on August 2.
